FAQ
Why did this game suddenly appear out of nowhere?
Because Sy wanted a college AU game, and really, it's kind of ridiculous that one didn't exist yet. Also it's not really technically a game, it's more of a private sandbox.
Why isn't it being widely advertised? Who can join?
This game is by referral/invite only with required mod approval. This means that if you are invited Kirk, Vin, or Sy, you're fine. If someone outside of these three players refers you, these people must be introduced to and approved by Kirk, Vin, or Sy first, be this in an AUni plurk a private plurk, or other form of communication. This is to ensure that we don't have issues with people joining our playerbase.
Where does this take place?
AUniversity is at a college town in Lovecraft Country. Arkham doesn't actually exist though! This is a real world setting game! It's not actually there! Or is it...? Perhaps one dimension or two off from this one...?
EH. Who knows.
So the "Campus" community, is that just for on campus stuff, or?
Nope, that's just the log community. Things can happen at people's houses, restaurants or other businesses in the town, or even if someone decides to go on a road trip.
How does the online portal work?
You have a personalized student login. The online portal will have things like your grades and whatever other academic stuff that isn't important unless you want it to be. There will also be a forum where you can interact with other student. Video posts will be considered embedded youtube videos on the forum via forum topics. Audio posts will be considered either embedded sound players from soundcloud, 4shared, or other audio-hosting sites, again, made in topic posts. Text will simply be plain-ol' forum text posts. Topic posts will work like any other forum, meaning others can reply to your threads if they desire.
There is also a PM system, in which case, specify if your post is a PM to one or multiple people. You can also group together multiple PMs into one post to reduce spamming the community.
Should you have an IC Inbox?
Are you telling me your character doesn't have a cell phone? Please. Feel free to text your friends! Send an e-mail! Spam them with embarrassing pictures of them drunk at that frat party the other night! Of course, your character might not have a cell phone as well, so this is optional.
OCs, can you app them?
Yes. What you need to know: OCs in a real world setting can keep their history or it can still be AU'd if you'd like, giving your OC a "fresh start" as it were. OCs in a non-real world setting will require a reference of what their world is like and a brief history of their "canon". As for Canon OCs, no reference of the world is needed, just a brief history of the character's involvement in the canon universe. Canon OCs will be given strict consideration in comparison to canon apps or OCs.
How many characters can a person have at the game?
FUCK THE CHARACTER CAP. HOWEVER, people will be allowed a max of 2 characters within the same canon, as long as these characters are not those who would (or have) closely interact(ed) with each other.
What about duplicates of a character?
Duplicates will be allowed ONLY in the circumstances of the duplicates being twins OR doppelgangers that have been agreed upon or coordinated by the muns playing said duplicates. A max of 2 duplicates will be allowed, and should be run by The Dean sometime during the app process, not for permission, but so The Dean is aware. If someone has already apped a character and you would like to app a duplicate, you may still app them. Duplicates DO NOT have to be apped within the same app cycle.
Hey, hey, what about gender swap AUs?
Hell yeah, give yo man a vagina. Alternatively, give yo lady a dick. We're already AUing here, why not go an extra mile?
Activity check? How's that working?
No AC, just a monthly check-in post. AUniveristy is intended to be some laid-back college fun for you, but stressful college crazy for your characters.

so can we only app students or can we app faculty too?
'cause like there are two characters i can think of that i might wanna app here who are like 40+ years old and mad scientists and clearly their calling in AU life is to be cranky professors doing sketchy research and assigning fifty page essays to keep their students busy

I was just wondering if you were able to expand on this at all, since I'm hoping to app a character from a non-Earth setting whose entire existence is pretty much dependent on the events of their canon setting, and I'm not sure how much I'd need to AU them to make them fit in the confines of the game.
I hope this makes sense! I'm not trying to be nitpicky I'm just trying to understand how the universe in which the game is set exists in relation to the characters' universes?
I hope you don't mind the sock. I worried this question might be stupid.no subject
The best example I can give for this is with Alex Mercer, who is AU'd into being an ordinary college student who still ends up with his supernatural powers because he goes looking around in some of the restricted labs on the campus, which have all manner of things that really shouldn't belong in a normal setting. The simple explanation for this is the school is secretly run by aliens.
Since aliens are running the school, it's possible for non-human characters to be in the game. You can AU the history however you like. You could have a human character that mutates into non-human (ex. Wikus from District 9), or they could be there as their original species naturally, possibly invited by the alien heads of the school. The possibilities are endless.
These are things that I really should put somewhere, since most of it was put together via plurk discussion, so don't worry about being nitpicky. I've been sitting behind the mod account going "um, what should i add now?" And socks are fine, don't worry about it!

And so on. If powers are going to be considered too extreme in specific, they can be discussed. This is mostly a funtime thing, let us be real here.

Say someone was hypothetically considering apping an archangel in the next month or so. I realize he can't keep a lot of his powers, because reality warping is his favorite, but could most of his abilities be brushed off as telepathy? And, if so, could I AU him up as an alien? Those ancient astronaut theorists seem to think that angels were aliens, after all. Or as just an angel because he's an angel? I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO IM NOT EVEN APPING ANYTIME SOON BUT THIS IS ALL HYPOTHETICAL YOU UNDERSTAND.

So he could still be an angel, even an archangel, based on the goverment of his home planet, while still being an alien at the same time a la ancient astronaut theories that you have mentioned.
I think this is honestly a more viable basis than the structure that is an angel possessing a host like in the canon material for Gabe, and would allow him to be more personally integrated with the setting. Whatever you choose to do for backstory and whatnot is entirely up to you.
